Biographical sketch

I was born in Minsk in 1958. My ancestors were Polish knights, among them old families of Wańkowicz, Świacki and Kuncewicz. The oldest Coat of Arms is "Stirrup" of Świacki.
I studied mathematics in Minsk, M. Sc. In 1980 and Ph.D. in 1985 from Belarusian State University in Minsk. I obtained the habilitation degree from the University of Wrocław in 1992, and the professor title in 2002. I have been holding positions of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor from 1990 at the Universities of Szczecin, Wrocław and since 1998 at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, were I have been promoted to the rank of Ordinary Professor in 2010. I published over 60 research articles in mathematical journals, a research monograph and a university textbook. I held positions of Visiting Professor in Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, IHES in Bur-sur-Yvette, Institute of Mathematical Sciences in Chennai and Universities in Calgary and Montpellier. I supervised 6 Ph.D. dissertations. I was awarded by the President of Poland (Silver Cross of Honour), by the Ministry of Education (individual research award and KEN Medal) and Polish Academy of Sciences. |
